My pleasure Sven. Awesome that you've had so much success with your approach to the body. There's nothing more important to get right. I actually just got a wheat grass juicer as a wedding gift. Pretty funn!

I today I cracked open Tim Frerriss' new book The Four Hour Body. Very excited about what I'm about to learn. www.fourhourbody.com

Welcome to the party!

Not eating any meats since I'm 11 (or 14?). I'm now 40, nobody believes me and asks if I lie and that I must be 27 - even tho I've stopped most workouts or sports from '97 onwards.. Just doin' about 20 push-ups a week and the weights twice a month. .-)
As soon as I find more time I want to give raw vegan a try... installing a mixer and a actual coffee mill (you fill in seeds and nuts instead of coffee) in my kitchen.. Heard that we are not chewing our food good enough and therefore we're missing the enzymes. Spinach and pears and other food you can think of can go into the mixer.. Then you can pour f.e. coconut juice over it and drink your food. Heard it's not good that we heat our food and that we're in consequence destroying many of the important ingredients.
Since many yrs I'm dreaming about workin' location independent. Last week I started working from my kitchen for a customer and I hope to build trust there and be later on really working remote (L.A, Oz or whereever I want to be..).
Thanks for the helpful web site - it's highly appreciated.
My best, Sven

It was a really cool realization Bryan. It was super empowering. Overall P90x is just a killer workout in general.

I have heard that there are one or two vitamins that vegetarians tend to be low on: vitamin D and vitamin B12. The sun is a great source for vitamin D and you can supplement B12. The trade off is very worth it as far as I'm concerned. The animal protein is not necessary from what I've researched and experienced personally.

The China Study is an excellent book/study done on the specifics of plant and meat based diets. Very worth having a look at.

Thanks for the thoughts,

Thanks Farouk. I was blown away after testing out a purely plant diet for a while. The energy was and is unreal. I haven't gone back since.

Hey, good article. I tried p90x too but thought I needed all the protein from meats and dairy so it's cool to know that someone did it successfully without that. However, do you know if there is some type of amino in protein from meat that you can't get from veggy-bles? I heard that somewhere...

@ Madeleine: That sounds delicious! I think there is so much to be gained from a high water rich vegetable diet. I have been doing it for a couple years and it's felt amazing. The newfound energy is really awesome. I might have to dive into that cookbook sometime very soon.

Thanks and happy reading!

Hi Scott, I found your blog through the A-List Blogging Club and really like it. You're so right about people's ideas about how much protein they need every day.

A great cookbook is "366 Delicious Ways to cook Rice, beans, and Grains by Andrea Chesman." Last night I made Spanakorizzo (with rice, spinach, feta cheese, and pine nuts). So tasty and 17 grams of protein per serving.
